Registration Day Info PDF Print E-mail

Registration Day has been booked for Saturday 11th September between 10:00am and noon for new and returning athletes.  I am sure clubs have been keeping returning athletes up to date. Registration form is below.

Remember, new athletes need to bring proof of birth date.  Registration forms are available on our website, Registration Tab.

Coburg provides this opportunity to register in person. This is our preferred method of completing the process and is easy to reconcile.  Our club committees get to know their families and they will have uniforms for sale on the day also. It is fun to catch up with other families and we will be having a free BBQ.  You may also like to purchase a tracksuit top whilst you are there. $30 for children’s sizes, $35 for adults sizes.

Orientation Day has been booked for Saturday 18th September from 10:00am to noon.

This is an information day for new families – parents and athletes -who are considering joining this sport.  We will run through the basic rules, what is a no jump or no throw, explain where to marshal or stand on the track (for example when running in a 200m race) etc etc.

We need club committee members to support this day please.  This is not a day for returning athletes to have competition, but an information day for new families so that the start of the season runs more efficiently.  If you want more information or would like to volunteer to assist, please contact a Coburg committee member.

Details can be found below as well as some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

Fees Explained

Registration Fees for season 2010 2011

The Centre fees for season 2010 / 2011 have been set at $120.00 per child, fourth and subsequent children are free.   Clubs charge a small club fee on top of this to cover advertising, printing, social events, trophies etc...This is in place of the 'subs' that used to be payable on a weekly basis.

Some of the fees are allocated as listed below.

  • $10 track levy,
  • ~$50 VLAA portion to cover insurance and membership,
  • a Centre Handbook, (one per family)
  • general training held on Wednesday evenings (6-7pm) with a qualified coach and her assistants,
  • entry into the Coburg All Star Open Day in March 2010 valued at up to $20,
  • membership continues into the winter Cross Country competition held usually at Essendon, Keilor, Sunbury and Coburg on a rotation basis.
NB.  If you have 4 or more children in your family, we will pay the VLAA portion for your those children.

The balance is then used to cover the cost of entering into Relay teams and running of the centre in general terms.

As a centre we have made a commitment to pay for Wednesday night training sessions with a professional coach and her staff, available to all athletes, and to purchase and maintain our equipment.

Our clubs also set their own fee on top of the centre fee above to cover a variety of things including their own expenses, trophies and presentation nights at the end of the season. Uniforms are separate and each club will charge their own fee based on the cost of manufacture.

At the end of the summer season, your registration fee also entitles each athlete to participate in Cross Country over the winter season.  In the Northern Metropolitan Region, we also ask our athletes to pay a weekly fee of $1 and this is used to cover the medals and morning tea available to them for this event.

To keep the cost of membership at a reasonable amount, we ask all families to support our Fund-raising efforts.  Each year we have a Trivia Night and various raffles and other activities throughout the season.  See more information in the handbook.

Our Coburg All Star Open Day is another favourite in the competition calendar and can only be successful if fully supported by our own members.  The entry fee for this event is now included in your fees upon registration at the beginning of the season.

Finally, we are very lucky to have dedicated people who take on the role of managing our Canteen.  Without this facility we would have to increase fees immensly as a lot of the profit raised from the canteen is also used to purchase new items of equipment for your use.

Please support our canteen and other fund-raising efforts.

Coburg do not provide competition for athletes aged U16s.  We encourage these athletes to join the Coburg Harriers.  In fact, athletes are welcome to become 'Dual Registered' with Athletics Victoria and compete with the Harriers from the age of ~12.  Many of our youngsters are Dual Athletes.
